Michael’s Appliance Center Receives Award for Contributions to Futures Without Violence

Middletown NY– January 6, 2016 – Michael’s Appliance Center, a Middletown-based independent retailer and repair center for home appliances, has received national recognition from Speed Queen for having the most contest entries in the 2015 “Dirty for the Difference” Sweepstakes.

Michael’s Appliance Center joined forces with Speed Queen to promote their “Dirty for a Difference” campaign, which raised money for Futures Without Violence (FUTURES). FUTURES is a national nonprofit organization working to end violence against women, children, and families. Throughout the course of the program, Speed Queen donated a total of $30,000 to FUTURES, raising awareness for the cause and giving a voice to those who have been affected by domestic violence.

For every sweepstakes entry received, Speed Queen donated $1 to FUTURES. Michael’s Appliance Center’s was one of several teams who participated and received an additional $5,000 to their total donation, courtesy of Speed Queen. A total of 2,911 entries were received.

“It has been our privilege to help raise awareness and funding for such an important cause, and we couldn’t have done it without the support of everyone who participated. Their generous contributions allowed us to raise awareness for the women, children and families affected by domestic violence across the country,” stated Andrew Guattery, General Manager of Michael’s Appliance Center.

“We are so thankful for the donors, participants and volunteers who supported FUTURES and participated in events this year,” said Susan Miller, brand manager of Speed Queen Retail.
