Have You Booked Your Summer Vacation Yet?

By Traci, Destination Marketing Manager / Content Strategist | June 21, 2019

No? Go ahead…we’ll wait right here.

Okay, now that that’s done, you can kick off summer with something fun to look forward to. Since many of our clients here at BBG&G are travel and leisure destinations, we’re acutely aware of the many, MANY ways people travel.

In addition to the typical week-long trip, a lot of people (particularly Millennials) are taking “micro-cations” – short getaways of four nights or less. We’re all for short getaways; they’re easier to plan, and require fewer days off from work.

There are also “staycations,” during which you spend your days exploring local and regional sites, and your nights in the comfort of your own home.

No matter how you do it, don’t forget the importance of taking those days off from work. We need the break, but each year, more than half of Americans leave vacation time on the table. In 2017, this accumulated to 705 million days total, according to the U.S. Travel Association.

The promising news is that the TSA (Transportation Security Administration) predicts summer 2019 will be the busiest summer travel season in its history.

So go! Take back your vacation time!

If you still need some ideas on where to spend your leisure time this summer, here are our suggestions, on behalf of some of our clients:

  • Take the family to Cooperstown and Otsego County in central New York, to visit the famed National Baseball Hall of Fame, swim in Lake Otsego, and visit museums, cider mills, and lavender farms.
  • Get a taste of the Hudson Valley with a Rockland County getaway, exploring riverside parks, mountain peak views, waterfront restaurants, and bustling shopping destinations.
  • Spend an afternoon touring the Millbrook Vineyards & Winery in Millbrook, NY, followed by a tasting, outdoor picnic, trail hike, or concert.

So, where are you headed?
