The Hudson Valley offers unique, multi-interest experiences—many of which are accessible via the Amtrak and Metro-North railroads. The Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area commissioned BBG&G to promote the launch of its new Hudson River Train Tour app to attract new audiences to leisure train travel and to re-capture the attention of commuters and convert them into travelers.

Digital Marketing
Our campaign to target commuters through Grand Central and Penn Stations included multiple approaches: print and digital display advertising, sponsored content/advertorials, press releases, social media, influencer campaigns, and printed collateral. We launched a targeted advertising campaign on various outlets including Spotify and created social media ads targeted to train passengers on the Hudson Line.
We also produced a video— intended to reach multiple audiences—to promote the usability of the app. In less than two minutes, it describes how to use the app’s features, as well as its story themes: What’s Out the Window, Freedom and Dignity, Nature & Culture, and Corridor of Commerce.
The Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area also was looking for a partner to promote the other experiences within the Heritage area. We developed an organic social media campaign to promote Heritage Sites, the Water Trail, and the Hudson River Valley Ramble, as well as the mobile app. This social media campaign included producing short videos on each of these segments.
Results
This multi-pronged approach continues to successfully deliver increased app installs and visitation throughout the region.
