What You Need to Know About The New Google Algorithm
Google rolled out a new algorithm in July, which was preceded by two spam updates. The updated algorithm affected the ranking system Google uses to prioritize its websites in searches. This means, depending on how well maintained your website is, your site will do better or worse because of this update.
Now, let’s unpack that. Why would your website do better or worse? Well, if your website is well maintained, it will have better loading times and a stable page. The new algorithm will bring websites that have these qualities to the first pages of the search engine.
The first quality Google’s algorithm measures is LCP, or Largest Contentful Paint, which is how a user first perceives the page. This first look is crucial because it takes a user less than twenty seconds to determine whether they want to remain on that page or not.
The second quality that the new algorithm measures is FID, or First Input Delay, which measures how quickly a button responds to being pressed on a website. Finally, the third quality is Cumulative Layout Shift, which measures the stability of the page.
This means that if your website is not well maintained to rate highly in these three categories, you will be put on the third, fourth, fifth, or lesser pages of the search engine. Now more than ever, it’s crucial to keep a well-maintained website that follows good SEO practices. Contact us if you need help!
