Pinterest: The Visual Search Engine

Pinterest Icon

Need a good excuse to start using Pinterest in your Social Strategy? According to Pinterest, there are 5 billion searches per month. Not convinced yet? According to Oblero, as of April 2021, there are about 478 million monthly active users on the site. Now, these numbers are not as high as platforms such as Facebook or Instagram but it should get you thinking about using Pinterest in your marketing.

Pinterest is a visual search engine in which users find DIY ideas, decor and style inspiration, recipes, and more. Users can save pins on their boards based on different categories; for example, home decor. But why should marketers be using it? Oblero states that 77% of weekly pinners discover a new product/brand while on the platform. By simply being active and posting on Pinterest, your company can see an increase in traffic.

As a visual platform, it is important to post visually appealing content and high-quality images. This can include video, infographics, photography, etc. Apart from posting visual content, you should also be using tags. This is how the Pinterest algorithm identifies what you are posting and the topics that people you are trying to reach are searching for.

It is also important to link your pin to a website. When a user clicks on your pin it will directly lead them to the site or a specific page on your site that you want them to see. This will drive more traffic to your desired webpage.

Although Pinterest isn’t the largest social media platform, it is still an essential tool that businesses should utilize. Want to learn more? Fill out the form below for a free marketing consultation.
