Two New Mobile-Friendly Websites

NYS Bridge Authority Website Comp

We recently launched two new websites – Helen Hayes Hospital and New York State Bridge Authority. Read on to see how we did it!

The New York State Bridge Authority (NYSBA) has successfully worked to maintain and operate key Hudson River crossings for the recreational, social, and economic benefits of the people of the region. They manage and maintain some of the most iconic bridges that span the Hudson River Valley.

The NYSBA website lacked capturing the legacy of these bridges and their vital role as connectors within the region. The outdated website needed a complete redesign and upgrade to enhance the user experience and functionality of the site.

BBG&G delivered a stunning website that clearly communicated the NYSBA brand and the bridges it oversees. We focused our creative services on developing a visually attractive, vibrant and easy-to-navigate website that is responsive and mobile-friendly, safe and secure, ADA compliant, and integrated with social media, all while following the strict NYS branding guidelines and hosting.

The NYSBA website was also built with a highly user-friendly enterprise level content management system (CMS). Over 28% of active sites use CMS (Builtwith). CMS technology is highly beneficial for all websites. Global internet usage studies show that over 54.4 million active websites are using CMS technology, and 44% of all active websites using CMS solutions are also using WordPress.

We identified keywords relevant to search engine optimization and installed third-party solutions for real-time traffic alerts. It was a seamless website launch.

Helen Hayes Hospital

Helen Hayes Hospital is a leader in the field of physical rehabilitation and research since its founding in 1900 and is widely recognized as one of the nation’s premier physical rehabilitation hospitals. They came to BBG&G looking for a true website partner, someone to help them redesign their site, implement best SEO and ADA Compliance practices, and conduct ongoing website maintenance.

Helen Hayes Hospital had an outdated website with cumbersome navigation that made it difficult for users to find what they were looking for. Helen Hayes Hospital wanted to build a website that informs, educates, attracts, and engages prospective inpatient and outpatient clients.

BBG&G designed a sitemap that was user-friendly with quick links to each sub-service and grouped them by category. Information architecture was streamlined to ensure that users didn’t have to click through several pages to get the information they needed.

In addition to improving the site architecture, BBG&G built a responsive mobile-friendly website that followed ADA Compliance according to WCAG 2.0 guidelines and secure HIPAA compliant hosting.

A mobile-friendly website is no longer a “nice to have” but a requirement. Mobile traffic to websites is over 51% of total online traffic. Mobile internet traffic accounts for 51.53% of global website traffic. In the coming years, it’s expected that mobile internet traffic will continue increasing. (Sources: Statista and Statcounter)

The launch was successful, and we continue to maintain the Helen Hayes website including SEO and ADA best practices.
