Why Video Marketing Matters

Video marketing is starting to make a splash, as it becomes the top marketing strategy in the industry. With older platforms like YouTube staying strong, fresher ideas are appearing on platforms like TikTok.

YouTube is one of the top social media platforms in the world. According to Hubspot, 35% of people surveyed used the 16-year-old platform to watch video content. However, fresh ideas are coming into the mix. Originally named Musically, the platform rebranded itself in 2018 to become the well-known app TikTok.

According to HubSpot’s data, 19% of people prefer to watch minute-long videos on TikTok over other “snackable” streaming platforms, such as Instagram. Although it was a trailblazer in short videos and stories, Instagram trails behind YouTube and TikTok at just 8%.

The world is becoming so fast-paced that these 60-second or less videos are all that can capture the consumer’s attention.

So how do you capture your audience’s attention in less than a minute? Well, here are some tips and tricks:

Make the video “silent-friendly”: Most people are using their phones to watch the video content you are producing. Which means their phones are typically on silent. Therefore, you must create a video that works without audio. This could mean including closed captions, or just implementing some creative directing.

Watch out for watermarks: if you’re making a video on TikTok, and then posting it to Instagram, the watermark may use the algorithm against you. Try using third-party apps to remove the watermark, and then post the video to another platform.

Repurposing your content isn’t always the best way to go: different apps have different target audiences. Creating specific videos for your audience can improve insights.

Video marketing is making its way to center stage, so make sure you’re in the front row. Not sure what to do next? Fill out the form below for a free consultation.
