Why aren’t businesses utilizing it?

For several years, YouTube has been among the best performing platforms online. According to Oblero, it is the second most popular social media platform and second most popular search engine. So, why is it that only 9% of small businesses are using YouTube? (Brandwatch 2020)

Starting a YouTube channel, especially as a small business, can be a daunting task. Let’s consider you have no previous video editing or producing experience. How would you know where to start? Inexperience with YouTube and even a lack of time are among the things that stop people from using the platform for their business. However, YouTube is a worthwhile investment.

Here are some tips to get your YouTube channel started:

Tip 1: Shoot your videos horizontally

It may seem like a simple tip, however, many videos on the platform don’t fit the correct format, a height of 1080 pixels and a width of 1920 pixels. Videoing in the correct format can make any video look more professional.

Tip 2: Create Useful Content

Know your audience and what they’re looking for. Supply and demand are pertinent in the video world. If you create content that doesn’t offer your viewers anything new, your viewership may not rise as expected. Make sure there is a purpose to the content that is created.

Tip 3: Keep it Concise

The attention span of the average person is eight seconds. If you want people to engage with your content, keep it short, simple, and to the point. People will click out of a video if they do not feel entertained.

Tip 4: Don’t Over Edit

You don’t have to be an editing guru to be successful on YouTube. Using simple software like iMovie and splicing clips together is sufficient. The key to editing is to practice before you film, so you can keep editing to a minimum.

You don’t need to be a professional Youtuber to create videos. Follow these tips and tricks and you too could step into another platform to grow your business.
