Tell Your Story Live on Social Media: Why? How?

By: Bethany | April 2, 2018

Chances are you’ve watched a live video recently. Get ready to watch even more. According to a Livestream survey, 82% of users prefer live videos over other social posts. With Facebook’s new algorithm, and constant changes in technology, this statistic is only bound to grow.

So, how can your business use live video more often?

Facebook Live Video

Facebook Live is an excellent tool for businesses in any industry. You can use live video to feature events, behind the scenes tours, and demonstrations. Choose a date and time to go live based on what times your audience is most active. Make sure to let your audience know ahead of time to tune in. Plan to stay live for at least 10 minutes, so viewers have enough time to react while it’s streaming. Be sure to share your video afterwards for a larger reach.

Instagram Stories

Instagram stories are a unique way to showcase content within a 24-hour window. You can feature photos, videos, and utilizing linking and tagging. Similarly to Facebook, you can also stream live videos. Use your Instagram stories to talk up a promotion, or hold a contest. Set teasers for your content on your Instagram page, so users know when you post a new photo. Plus, with Highlights you can now save stories to your profile for viewing later.

Snapchat

Snapchat is a consumer-focused platform. However, there is opportunity for businesses to create a profile, if maintained frequently. Utilize Snapchat stories to post photos and videos of exciting aspects of your business such as specials and events. You can also post a set of photos that tells a story. Use filters, or pay to create your own for a period of time.

Live video is an interactive way to engage with your audience – so, get those cameras (or phones, in this case) rolling!
