It’s Time for Your Mid-Year Marketing Checkup
So far, it’s been a challenging year for marketers. We talked about this in our recent webinar, and suggested that it’s a good time to pivot to mostly digital strategies.
The month of July is a good time to re-assess your annual marketing plan, especially this year. You can see if you’re meeting your targets, take stock of your strategies for the rest of the year, and even start thinking about 2021 priorities.
It’s not enough to recognize that adjustments or improvements need to be made. You need to take a look at your resources, and determine if your internal team is enough to get the job done – or if it’s time to outsource. To build momentum and accountability, it’s also helpful to determine a timeline for your progress, and identify the next step(s) to getting it done.
My top three suggestions on where to begin? So glad you asked. Audit your current digital tools and tactics with a fresh eye.
- Look at your website as if you’re seeing it for the first time. Is the content the type of information that your customers or clients are looking for these days? Is the design dated? If you haven’t made any upgrades in three years or more – it’s time.
- If you’ve paused your digital advertising, it’s time to get back in the game. If you haven’t already, you need to refresh your messages (copy and imagery) to reflect the “new normal.” And depending on what the “new normal” has done to your market, you may need to adjust when and where your ads appear.
- Are you cultivating your email list, and nurturing your relationship with your subscribers? Your list is one of your most important marketing tools! Remember, your social media pages are just “rented space.” How many newsletters have you sent out so far this year? (Hopefully, the answer is at least six). How are the open rates and click-through rates?
This is a good start…
But there are a few more things we think you should do. We’ve created a handy-dandy checklist that you can download as a PDF. This checklist is designed to guide you through your mid-year marketing assessment process.
To get it, we’re going to ask you for your email address. It’s quick and painless!
And if we can help you reach your goals for this year, or help you establish them for next year, please reach out.
