Optimize Your Google My Business Listing to Attract New Customers

Google My Business
Google My Business Profile

Google My Business (GMB) is a free tool that helps businesses manage their online presence and appearance in Google Search and Google Maps. If you want to learn more about GMB and why it matters, check out my previous blog post “Why You Need a Google My Business Profile”.

GMB gives the consumer the information they need right away.

During the pandemic, GMB listings have been extremely beneficial to companies by allowing them to post COVID-specific announcements such as curbside pickup, new hours of operation, outdoor dining, local delivery, etc.

With the future still so unknown, GMB will continue to be an essential tool for business owners to stay connected to their audience. Furthermore, since it’s delivering all the information needed it’s likely that users will avoid visiting a website, so keeping an up-to-date and optimized listing is essential. Just in the nick of time, Google recently made updates to the GMB performance reports in Insights to help users better optimize their listings.

GMB Insights updates will help you optimize your listing and reach new customers.

The new updates to the Insights data give business owners the option to see more of the core metrics directly from their company profile; such as how often someone has contacted their business after they’ve visited the GMB listing in Google Search and Google Maps. This is only one of the several more that should be coming; like “detailed reports about searches” and “the number of people who saw the profile.”

The GMB Insights update will help highlight trends in user activity that will show business owners new opportunities to attract customers. The ability to see how people are interacting with GMB listings can lead to new ways to optimize specific information so that users are more likely to contact the business in the future.

The biggest takeaway we see here is for businesses to update and optimize their GMB listings. Unsure how to do so or where to get started? Contact us for a free consultation. We’re here to help!
