Travel Monthly Round-Up: November

Non-Predictions for 2021

The travel industry has had quite the upheaval in 2020. It’s hard to say what will happen for the new year ahead.  So, this year, we’re focusing on what we know and presenting our “non-predictions” for 2021.

Road Trips

Many travelers were apprehensive to fly when travel bans started to lift this past summer. It seems that road traveling will be the preferred measure of transportation for vacationers in 2021. According to Vrbo Travel, 59% of families are more likely to drive than fly on their next trip. Not to mention, by choosing road travel over air travel, travel plans are more conducive to being flexible and not having to worry about cancellations. For the beginning of 2021, focusing on the drive market will be important.

Outdoor Vacations

The state parks and local trails had high traffic for the end of 2020, and that seems unlikely to change much next year. Vrbo Travel also says that 61% of U.S. families will choose to visit an outdoor destination. This will be important to reflect in your online and print presence. Consider showcasing your destination’s outdoor attractions and tips on visiting those places.

Planning for Future Travel

Unfortunately due to COVID-19, we do not know when the travel industry will see a surge in travel again. For some states, there are still several travel bans and restrictions in place, and international travel is still far from people’s minds. In the meantime, many travelers have taken to online “shopping” for their next vacations. Travelers are using websites, social media, and other digital platforms to window shop for their next big trip.

Consider these other tips for stepping up your destination’s online presence in 2021 that we covered earlier this year:

We don’t know what this year will bring for travel, but we can definitely plan for better times. Do you need help with marketing to your travelers in 2021? Set up a consultation with us.
