Travel Takeaway Tuesday Part IX
We’re well into summer, and we can already start to see travel trends emerging in the industry that may remain popular for the rest of 2020 and into next year.
Our advice this week is courtesy of Travel + Leisure and the U.S. Travel Association.
Here are our latest takeaways:
Planning Last-Minute Vacations
With all of the uncertainty in the world right now, it seems that summer and fall getaways will be spontaneous for the time being. As we’ve mentioned before, road travel will continue to be more popular until travelers feel comfortable to fly. Your destination should be prepared for spontaneous travelers and accommodating to their schedules. Do your hotels offer free cancellations, or no fee to reschedule visits? If not, it may be something they should consider for guests.
Introducing Micro-Weddings to Visitors
2020 is the year of the #microwedding and elopements! Couples who planned their weddings for this year are getting creative with their nuptials and traveling to beautiful outdoor settings to hold small ceremonies. If your destination has unique outdoor locations, let couples know that they can arrange their ceremonies in your area.
Traveling to National Parks and Beaches
As we’ve seen, national parks and beaches are popular because of the ease of social distancing. It’s important that park and beach staff continue to regulate these protocols, but also make visitors feel welcomed. Encourage visitors to safely explore other attractions in the area while they visit these places such as restaurants, and museums.
Marketing Remote Work Alternatives
Remote work has been commonplace the past several months, and in many cases, can be done from any location with internet access. Some destinations such as Bermuda and the Country of Georgia have taken advantage of this, and are marketing to remote workers as a place to work and visit. Hotels with beautiful views are a great alternative location for remote workers to access wifi and escape their everyday environments.
What can your destination do to make the most of the rest of the summer? Stay tuned for our latest travel takeaways, and stay connected as we navigate these times together.
