Tips for Hosting Your Own Webinar Event

The coronavirus pandemic has resulted in the cancellation of hundreds of large-scale business events around the world. Thanks to modern technology, we can still keep in touch with large groups through virtual meetings and webinars.

Has your organization ever hosted your own webinar? This is the perfect medium to efficiently share your message with a large audience, using the internet.

Choose a Webinar Platform

In order to host a virtual meeting, you must have the right tools. See our previous blog post for our suggestions. Choose the right platform that best meets your needs. Things to consider: how many attendees the software can handle; if there is interactive content such as live chats; and if there’s capability in-platform for webinar sign-ups.

Strategize Promotion

Once you’ve chosen the right webinar platform, it’s time to promote your first event. Right now, there is a huge influx of promotion in email marketing and social media. It’s important to reach the right people at the right time, respecting their time while offering valuable content. Consider where your audience is active mostly, and focus your efforts there.

Prepare Your Branding

Branding is important to consider for webinars since it’s an extension of your marketing plan. Most platforms allow you to customize the dashboard of your webinar with your logo, or brand colors. Make sure to set up all the customization ahead of time, so your audience recognizes your brand.

Programming Tips to Note

The ideal length of a webinar is 30 to 45 minutes, according to Medium. Webinars are appealing to people because they are live presentations. You can have pre-recorded material in your presentation, but it would be best to have a live presenter, visible in on-screen video. Also, make sure that you have resources available to share with the group during the webinar. These can include downloadable tips or website links.

Follow-Up Appropriately

You are not finished once the webinar ends. Reach back out to your attendees with a recording link to the program, and/or the slides. Remember, think carefully about your messaging. Do you want to re-engage them to take any action, or attend another webinar? Add the right content to your follow-up message, if so.
